Privacy policy
- Your workouts, check-ins, progress photos and weight stay on your iPhone.
- An account is optional. If you make one, we keep a private backup so you can restore on a new phone.
- Progress photos are only backed up if you turn photo backup on. It's off by default.
- We collect anonymous usage stats (which screens and buttons are used) to improve the app. They never include your photos, body or workout numbers, and you can turn them off.
- No advertising, no tracking across apps, and we never sell your data.
Who we are
DELTRA is made by Jellyfish Apps Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number [number]), registered office [address]. We're the data controller for the information described here. Contact us at support@deltra.app.
What stays on your iPhone
Everything you log in DELTRA is stored on your device: workouts and sets, programmes, check-ins (photos, weight, measurements and notes), weigh-ins and settings. Progress photos are kept inside DELTRA, protected by iOS file encryption while your iPhone is locked. They're never saved to your photo library unless you turn that on in Profile → Privacy. You can also lock DELTRA with Face ID.
We can't see anything stored on your iPhone.
Apple Health
If you connect Apple Health, DELTRA reads your steps, body weight and body fat (for example from a smart scale), and can save your workouts and weigh-ins to Health. Health data is used only to show your progress in the app. It's never used for advertising or analytics, never shared with third parties, and never uploaded, except that weigh-ins can be included in your backup if you have an account. You can change access at any time in the Health app.
Optional account and backup
If you create an account (Sign in with Apple, or email and password), we use Google Firebase to sign you in and store your backup:
- Account details: your email address (or Apple's private relay address) and an account ID.
- Backup file: your workouts, programmes, check-in details (weight, measurements, notes), weigh-ins and settings.
- Photos: your progress photos, only if you turn on photo backup.
Your backup is stored in a private area that only your signed-in account can read. We don't look at it and use it only to restore your data.
Deleting your account: Profile → Account → Delete account removes your sign-in and everything in your backup, including any backed-up photos. Data on your iPhone stays unless you delete it there too.
Anonymous usage analytics
To learn which features help and where the app gets in the way, DELTRA records how the app is used: for example, which screens are opened, which buttons are tapped, and whether a check-in was finished. We use Google Analytics for Firebase for this.
- It never includes your photos, weight, measurements, notes, exercise numbers or anything from Apple Health.
- It isn't linked to your account, name or email. It uses a random ID that resets if you reinstall the app, and doesn't use your advertising ID.
- It isn't used for advertising, and Google doesn't use it for its own purposes.
- It's kept for 14 months.
- You can turn it off at any time in Profile → Privacy → Share anonymous usage.
Subscriptions
Payments are handled by Apple. We never see your card or payment details. The app receives only whether you have an active subscription or trial. Purchase events (such as a trial starting) are included in the anonymous usage stats above. Manage or cancel in your iPhone's Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
Camera, microphone and sharing
The camera is used only to take check-in photos. The microphone and speech recognition are used only if you dictate a check-in note; speech is turned into text on your iPhone and the audio isn't kept.
Share images and videos are made on your iPhone and only leave it when you share them. Faces are cropped and weight hidden by default.
Website and waitlist
If you join the waitlist on this website, we keep your email address to tell you about the beta and launch, and for nothing else. It's stored with our website host, Netlify. You can ask us to remove it at any time, and we delete the list within 6 months of launch. This website doesn't use cookies or analytics.
Support emails
If you email us, we use what you send only to help you, and keep it for up to 2 years.
Who we share data with
We use these providers to run DELTRA. They process data on our behalf and only for these purposes:

We don't sell or rent your data, and we don't share it for advertising. Google and Netlify may process data outside the UK, including in the US; where they do, it's protected by the UK's approved safeguards (such as the UK–US data bridge or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum).
Our legal bases
- Providing the service you ask for (contract): your account, backup and restore, subscriptions and support.
- Your consent: Apple Health access, photo backup, saving photos to your library, and the waitlist. You can withdraw it at any time.
- Legitimate interests: anonymous usage stats to improve the app, with a simple way to turn them off.
- Legal obligations: for example, keeping records we're required to keep.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, and object to or restrict how we use it. Most of this you can do yourself: Profile → Your data → Export my data gives you everything as JSON and CSV, and Profile → Account → Delete account removes your backup. For anything else, email support@deltra.app. We reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Security
Data on your iPhone is protected by iOS encryption and optional Face ID lock. Backups are sent over encrypted connections and stored under rules that allow only your signed-in account to read them.
Children
DELTRA isn't intended for anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
